Old Nice and Marc Chagall
After the Petit déjeuner (breakfast) at the hotel, the tour was off and running. This morning was a ride around Nice in a coach bus with information about Nice being given by tour guide, Madame Agnes Dumartin. She is a very knowledgeable tour guide of Nice and surrounding areas. We saw the Russian Catheral and their domes. Nice has some buildings known as the "pastries" for their colors, they were beautiful too.
Next was a trip to the Marc Chagall museum. I enjoyed the exhibit this time because our day guide, Agnes explained the exhibits to us. Chicago has a Marc Chagall mosaic. We could not take photos in the museum. It was also raining when we left the museum.
In the afternoon, there was a walking tour of Old Nice. We were shown Henri Matisse’s Nice home. After this walk, we were free for the evening. I went back to the restaurant from Day 1 and tried the porchetta de lapin (rabbit porchetta), for dinner it was delicious.
One thing I like about this tour is the free time. We were tourist in the morning and locals in the evening.
I would see my fellow tourist out in the old town area of Nice, enjoying the weather and looking relaxed. I believe the weather hovered in the 70’s during the tour, I don’t remember being cold.
my Tip: I inadvertently left my electric outlet converter at home, in another piece of luggage. I asked the front desk where I could purchase one. The clerk pulled out three bags of converters left at the hotel by guest. We found the type I needed. I used this converter and returned it when I left. Saved me some euro. Sometimes it pays to mention small things like this at the front desk.
Day 3/trois: Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat
