Welcome to Nice Day: Meet, Greet & Eat
The tour started at 5:00pm today. Our tour guide’s name is Patrick Vidal. He is such a nice man and very
patient. Introductions were made of the tour group. We had members from all over the US and Asia for this tour. Patrick gave us information we needed for dinner and meeting times in the morning. Then it was off to dinner -- Yipeeeee!
We walked around to Place Masséna and viewed the Apollo statue and surrounding area. Our hotel was next to the Nice Opera house. We walked down the Cours Saleya to the restaurant, "Le Marché".
Our initial apéritif was a Kir, which is a popular French cocktail. The restaurant was a little dark with a nice ambiance to it, almost like a cave feel to me. Also at this dinner, I had my beloved Rosé -– my favorite wine tipple. We had a couple of choices for each course. My starter was a fish soup (Soupe de poisons). My main course was Niçoise stew and home made gnocchi (Daube niçoise et gnocchi maison). I chose the Nougat ice cream (Nougat glacé) for dessert, everything was yum-oh!!
It was a little late when we got back to the hotel, after a shower and lavender spraying to relax me, sleep was in order.
my Tip: When I'm in Europe, I always try to be mindful as to where I step when walking. Europe's sidewalks and streets can be a little different then in the States. There will be cobblestones and sometimes smaller side walks.
Day 2/deux more Old Nice and Marc Chagall awaits ...
